Stop Paying $200 — Learn to Read BaZi

A friend of mine paid $200 for a BaZi reading last year. She sat through a 45-minute session, got some vague comments about "challenging energy in your wealth sector," and walked away with nothing she could actually use.

1. The Four Pillars — Your birth data converted into Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches. Think of it as the raw data. Our chart tool generates this automatically, so you don't need to do the conversion yourself.

2. The Day Master — The core "self" element in your chart. It's the Heavenly Stem of your Day Pillar, and everything in the reading revolves around it. A Wood Day Master has different tendencies than a Fire Day Master.

3. The Five Phases (Wu Xing) — Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water. These are the energies that interact in your chart and in your Luck Cycles. Understanding how they generate, control, and drain each other is the engine of the whole system.

4. The Ten Gods (Shi Shen) — The relationship categories between your Day Master and other elements in the chart. Friend Star, Wealth Star, Power Star, Resource Star, Output Star — each connecting to different life domains.

5. Major Luck Cycles (Da Yun) — The 10-year periods that overlay your birth chart, activating different elemental conditions at different life stages.

A practitioner might soften bad news to keep you as a client, or dramatize good news to justify their fee. When you're reading for yourself, you see what's there — both the strengths and the challenges.

There's also a compounding effect. The more you study your chart, the more you notice patterns in your actual life that match what the chart suggests. These observations build confidence over time — or, if the patterns don't match, they build healthy skepticism. Either outcome is more valuable than taking a stranger's word for it.
